Class Course Work
Create your own Ecomap starting with your Genogram in the center. Note: You can use the Genogram template which I have provided as an attachment which is the link of – SW 3300_Module 1_Genogram template.pptx
Note: The ecomap/genogram should be based on you as the center. Unlike the ecomap tutorial, your ecomap does not need to include your family (for example, parents, spouse, siblings, etc.). Simply create your ecomap based on your own development and life as an individual. What you include as micro or mezzo systems connected to you may include parents, nuclear family, extended family, etc.
The genogram is a plot of your family tree. The ecomap is about the systems impacting your life. The point that perhaps you and other students are missing or confused about is that the systems you include in the ecomap, for example, your church, your parents, your extended family only need to relate to you and not your family unit displayed in the genogram. For example, my family unit comprised me, my sister, my brother, my mom and my dad. But the systems that impacted me individually in my ecomap are my high school, my pathfinder leaders, hip-hop culture. They impacted my life, not my family’s life. The genogram will be a tree of your family (in the middle); the systems in the circles around your family genogram only need to pertain to you. For example, a number of students have listed Georgia State University (GSU) as a system of impact in their ecomap. Other systems in the ecomap only relate to that student and not other family members in the genogram.
