PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is found in law enforcement officers, correctional officers, and probation / parole officers. Some would even make the argument that the prevalence of PTSD in those who work in corrections equals the rate of occurrence in the Veteran population. Review these articles on the signs and symptoms of PTSD and information on PTSD in corrections: What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)? and How corrections officers can recognize PTSD. Do you think that the author and others who work in corrections and law enforcement can develop PTSD? Why or why not? What behaviors / experiences did the author describe that could suggest that he has PTSD?
