Please write a discussion post reply of 450 words to the following post. Must have at least 2 scholarly peer-reviewed sources using APA format. Sources must be within the last 5 years. Must include one biblical integration that is NOT to be listed as a resource.
Original post instructions are listed here: Using the text Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare, review evidence-based research definitions and components. Identify a quality concern you have at your facility. (If you are not working in healthcare, you may review the current literature for a problem or issue that interests you.)
Would the issue benefit from evidence-based practices? Present the issue and how evidence-based research would benefit the patient, staff, or facility.
Post you will reply to is here: Leaders and providers in the health care industry are confronted with a number of complex issues that are difficult to address. As a result of this, leaders are required to incorporate the use of evidence-based research in order to make effective decisions that improve the outcomes for patients as well as the quality and success of the organization. Evidence-based practice, also known as EBP, refers to the process of making decisions on patient care based on the most recent and relevant available evidence. According to Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt (2015), the scope of this definition has expanded to include a patient’s preferences and values, as well as a systematic search and critical evaluation of the most relevant research (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2015). This is due to the fact that as healthcare has progressed, so too has this definition. Health care practitioners are able to use this knowledge to make the best decision possible for their patients when they have these components at their disposal. Although the use of evidence-based practice (EBP) is strongly recommended, it does not have a great deal of success due to a lack of knowledge and skills about EBP, which is one of the most prevalent obstacles to the use of EBP (Albarqouni et al., 2018). Therefore, leaders need to establish instructional programs to guarantee that providers understand how to use EBP and when its best application is. The majority of providers have a tendency to rely on their previous experiences when treating their patients; yet, with the ongoing development of research and practices, new treatments continue to emerge that may provide more effectiveness and better outcomes.
Today, as a result of technological breakthroughs, healthcare organizations are in a state of perpetual change. Along with this change comes a significant amount of employee turnover, which puts pressure on the leaders of these organizations to swiftly fill roles in order to stay up with patient demand. As a result, both the level of quality and the availability of training have declined. My employer is beginning to struggle with a problem that stems from a lack of investment in employee training. Despite the fact that the organization is relatively big the turnover rate is high. As individuals earn new honors and move on to other opportunities, their responsibilities are reassigned, leaving others to take on additional responsibilities that impact both the organization’s efficiency and the quality of care provided to the community overall. Hospital administrators need to be held accountable for both the individuals under their care and the organization that provides their treatment in order to reduce the number of preventable medical errors. According to Dusin et al. (2023), evidence-based practice (EBP), which is a process that reviews, translates, and integrates research findings into clinical practice with the goal of improving patient care, treatment, and results (Dusin et al., 2023).
Managers should be able to analyze the factors that contribute to an organization’s success, as well as ways in which efficiency may be improved. This includes assessing the relationship between patient care and the amount of labor that has to be done. Organizations have the opportunity to overcome a number of obstacles if they put evidence-based practice (EBP) into action and invest in good training. The delivery of patient care can be rethought and reformed using EBP to provide care that is not only effective but also safe and efficient.
The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16 &17, ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work’ (New International Version, New International Version Bible, 1978/2011, 2 Timothy 3:16 & 17). Through his direction and grace, the Lord enlightens us with the knowledge we require to make sound choices. As persons who work in healthcare and as children of the Lord, we have a responsibility to make the most of his grace and blessings so that we can provide excellent service to his people.
