There are 2 topics to choose from this week, there should only be 2 total Discussion threads.
Only ONE (1) very long thread for each:
Trunk
Pelvic Girdle
What then follows the beginning of each thread is a great discussion.
If there is a thread that is already started, please do not start another one on the same topic.
Thank you for your attention to this.

THREAD 1: TRUNK

Perform the following two variations of sit-ups. Determine if the position of the hips makes a difference in performance of a sit-up and explain your answer. Sit up only until the scapula clears the table. Start with the arms at the side reaching forward as the sit-up is performed.
With hips and knees flexed so feet are close to buttocks
With legs extended
Perform trunk flexion (trunk curl) in supine position. Compare the range of trunk motion achieved with the range of motion achieved in a sit up.
Where does the additional ROM come from in the sit- up exercises as compared to the trunk flexion?
Which method, sit-up or trunk curl, is less likely to increase lumbar lordosis? Explain your answer.
Please read all three of the questions for comparison, but you you are only required to comment on one thread.

THREAD 2: PELVIC GIRDLE

While sitting on the low stool, you assume a posterior pelvic tilt and decrease the lumbar lordosis (flatten the lumbar spine). Sit on a low stool and catch a ball and throw it to hit a specific target.
What effect did the sitting position have on your ability to toss and catch a ball? Why?
When sitting on a high stool so that your feet only barely touch the floor, you assume an anterior pelvic tilt and increase the lumbar lordosis. Sit on a high stool and repeat throwing and catching the ball.
What effect did this sitting position have on your ability to toss and catch the ball? Why?
Repeat the throw while sitting on a stool that allows you to sit with your feet supported and your thighs parallel to the floor.
What effect did this sitting position have on your ability to toss and catch the ball? Why?
Please read all three positions, but you are only required to comment on one thread.
