For those of you that do not know, Kalief Browder was a resident of the Bronx who was arrested on suspicion of robbery and held in pretrial detention (jail) at Riker’s Island for several years as a juvenile. He was released after several years, many of them in solitary confinement and became an advocate for criminal justice reform before suffering a tragedy. Please watch the film and respond in how this case makes you consider the criminal justice system as a whole in New York City and nationally, and what you think we can learn from this case? Your responses here can be worth up to 5 points, so please write longer meaningful responses if you want full credit. I am leaving it up to you what aspect of the documentary you chose to write about.
