Final Paper
The purpose of the final paper is to explore on a deeper level some of the concepts that you learned about this semester. The bolded points below are the main instructions. The italicized sub-points are simply SUGGESTIONS of how you may choose to approach each of the main points; you may choose to approach the main points from a different perspective. Again, they are just pointers to give you some ideas of how you may approach the main points. Please also watch the video that I posted.
Pick three concepts that you learned about this semester.
What did you find interesting about each of the three concepts?
Did you get a different historical perspective?
Did you read a story that got you thinking about the concept?
Is there some theory that you agree with regarding that concept?
How do you personally relate to each of these concepts?
Do you have a personal experience with it?
Have you observed another who has personal experience with that concept?
Did/do you have a challenge that is similar to that concept or that you can apply that concept to?
Do you have no experience with these concepts but want to broaden your horizons?
What is the best way to advance those concepts in society at large so that they effectuate positive change?
What can be done on a broad level?
Do you agree with the way each of those concepts is being advanced and why?
Do you disagree with how those concepts are being advanced? Why do you disagree and how would you do it differently?
How would you incorporate your knowledge and interest in these topics into a social work practice?
Do any of these concepts change how you would approach some or all of your clients? If so, who? And how would it change your approach?
Any hypothetical scenarios that illustrate how you would apply these concepts?
Consider using a hypothetical snippet of a dialogue between you as social worker and the client.
