Did people behave in ways you did not anticipate or did this all seem familiar or expected to you?

Goal of Assignment: Through our Unit #1 and Unit #2 readings, you have been introduced to many of the major trends, prevailing stereotypes, key players, and notable events of nineteenth century anti-Catholicism. By this point of the semester, you should be able to identify what you consider the three biggest trends, stereotypes, actors, or events of anti-Catholicism in the long nineteenth century. In this paper you will identify these three items, explain them, and defend why you chose them before providing a general reflection of what you’ve learned thus far in the course and how it compared to what you thought you knew about the topic.
Structure/Outline:
Introduction: Identify your three major trends/stereotypes/players/events
Explanation of Choice #1: Introduce the basics of your first trend/stereotype/figure/event and then explain why you think it is important.
Explanation of Choice #2: Introduce the basics of your second trend/stereotype/figure/event and then explain why you think it is important.
Explanation of Choice #3: Introduce the basics of your third trend/stereotype/figure/event and then explain why you think it is important.
Personal Reflection: Looking back on our readings and discussions, was there anything that surprised you? Did people behave in ways you did not anticipate or did this all seem familiar or expected to you? If you would like, you can connect these readings to your personal life or the present.
Conclusion: Just a restatement of the major parts of the paper.
Quotations: When introducing, explaining, and defending your three choices you must use direct quotations from at least five of the ten readings we’ve used thus far.
