Politics is the art and practice of gaining, maintaining, and wielding power to establish and sustain a great society. State-level Black party efforts had the best results. The National Liberty Party was established in 1904, marking the beginning of Black Party initiatives. This party didn’t last long, and several nonpartisan political organizations eventually replaced it. Chapter 8 was mainly focused on black economics. I enjoyed reading how economics was linked to politics. Power and wealth are mutually supportive and engendering. Most likely, you influence if you are wealthy. If you are wealthy or powerful, you will always have access to opportunities to increase your wealth. The study of the interactions between politics and economics, as well as the power they produce and express, is known as political economy according to James Stuart. This works hand and hand for African Americans because we will continue to struggle economically until we have power in the political world.
