Pediatric Case Study Project: The objective of this case study assignment is to enhance your application of the clinical decision-making skills essential in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric clients with common acute and stable chronic health conditions. Instructions:
Students will complete ONE pediatric case study for this course.
Select one pediatric client with a common acute health condition that you encountered in the clinical practicum or a pediatric health condition of interest. Students may not select the same type of clinical case or health problem.
Write a comprehensive case study that includes: the case presentation/introduction
disease pathology
epidemiological data
nursing and medical diagnosis with a comprehensive plan of care.
Application of a nursing theoretical or conceptual framework and evidence-based practice is required.
Select resources that include journal articles, textbooks, websites, and/or new articles. All resources and references must be current (published within the past 5 years).
The emphasis of your case study should be on pathophysiology, health assessment, medical management, and evidence-based practice.
The case study should be outlined as follows:
• Introduction/Overview of Health Problem
• Epidemiology, Incidence and Prevalence
• Pathophysiology
• Discussion and Application of the Nursing Theory or Conceptual Framework
• Presentation of Case Study
• General client demographic data: Client initials, age, gender, race, and culture
• Subjective data
• Objective data
• Assessment: Medical diagnosis
