Lab: PowerPoint 1—Adventures
Objective: You have been asked by the local chamber to create a presentation on things to see or do in that location. This presentation will be a stand-alone and be viewed by individuals visiting the Chamber. In order to complete this presentation you will have to research this topic online.
Instructions:
Location topics are assigned according to the first letter of your last name:
K-L Georgia
Research and choose five adventures or landmarks in your assigned location and create one slide (or two) on each topic that interests you, put together a eight to ten slide presentation. You do not need to deliver every possible fact about each topic but a few details on each. Your presentation is to start with a title slide, then an overview slide, and end with a conclusion slide. You are to demonstrate a variation in slide set-up, no more than 2 slides should be setup the same.
As it is always appropriate to label your sources, add URLs (or other appropriate references) along the edge of each slide for any details or images that are borrowed. Place and format appropriately (as per the reading) and keep to a font size 8 or less.
When overlapping images and text, consider working with the transparency tool for the textbox background to allow an image to be seen but still have the text readable. Do not stop at a basic textbox, demonstrated additional formatting tools.
Remember, the purpose of this presentation is to give a glimpse into things to do in your location, in order to get people interested in learning more. So the content of each slide is not to cover every detail possible about the topic. I.e., there should be no complete sentences on any of the slides! The slides should contain no more than a point or two about each topic, which means a few words or at most a groups of words! No multiple sentences, Bullets or Numbering.
Remove background graphics as needed to compliment your slide delivery
You should format beyond the basic setup. Don’t just add a textbox with a word, enhance the text, and format the textbox. This is your opportunity to demonstrate more than the basics with PowerPoint tools (and you have to do this in order to get full credit for this lab).
Tools to Demonstrate:
Font sizes are to be large enough to read in slide sorter view, excluding URLs
Theme other than Office Default selected,
WordArt,
Table
SmartArt,
textboxes,
images,
transitions, and
automatic slide advancement
continuous loop
Remember to check your spelling.
Filename is to include your initials and assist with identifying the topic of your presentation.
Once you have completed the above and saved your PowerPoint file (with a “.pptx” extension), submit it to Blackboard by the due date.
Grading Criteria – Not completing your Assignment on the assigned location will result in a 0 for the assignment.
