AOS PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT
PURPOSE: To integrate the learning from all the course units within the AOS301 course into a self-assessment and roadmap for professional development.
DESCRIPTION: This is a comprehensive demonstration of learning for the course including a well-researched assessment of your strengths and experiential knowledge in alignment with the economic and social fabric of the community or communities in which you plan to work.
The assignment consists of four parts: personal assessment, assessment of skills and experience, economic climate assessment, and professional aspirations statement.
The portfolio will be presented as a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation that incorporates content from the course and other Internet-based resources. You must have a minimum of one slide per outline content area and no more than 36 slides total. Feel free to add links to cited resources, integrate audio or video but they are not required.
PRESENTATION OUTLINE:
INTRODUCTION- Start by indicating your name, course, and a brief personal introduction. You should also briefly introduce why you are in the AOS major. (If you are not an AOS major or you are not continuing in the major, please describe your major/proposed new major and why you are in this course.)
PART 1- PERSONAL ASSESSMENT- Using the information that was gained through your examination of the Keirsey temperament sorter and Gallup Strengths Finder (top 5 strengths) identify the linkages between your personality and your roles as both a leader and a follower.
PART 2- SKILLS & EXPERIENCE- Examine your educational, work, and life experiences as well as the core skills you possess that impact your career and professional competency. Share how these will contribute to future success and identify any gaps in this area and how you will address these with education or experience going forward. You may also want to identify any transferrable skills that you possess and how those advance your professional mobility.
PART 3- ECONOMIC/INDUSTRY CLIMATE- Identify an industry sector in which you see a professional future for yourself and using hard data and scholarly resources illuminate the future of the sector and how you will align yourself with those changes. Are there any larger economic factors that will impact your sector?
PART 4- PROFESSIONAL ASPIRATIONS- Describe where you see yourself in the next 5 years and the next 10 years as if to give us a snapshot view of you as a professional. Not only should you talk about the industry sector, but also about the type of organization and your role. It should reveal how your education, personality, and experience come together to advance your goals. It may also integrate the changing work environment and work-life balance aspects in your vision of the future for yourself.
CONCLUSION- Sum it up and close the loop on the introduction almost as if you have been on a journey in this course which you have documented in part through this slide presentation. What have you discovered about yourself, your industry sector, and organizations? This slide(s) should also offer some insights or advice to others in your profession or course of study as to how to apply knowledge, theory, and education in the context or organizations.
