Week 3 Discussion Board Assignment: Article on Marital Conflict or Social Injustice

*The following information is relevant to each of the following discussion board assignments:

During weeks 2 through 6, students will be required to create a discussion board thread sharing a newspaper or magazine article relevant to the week’s topics.  Each student will need to create a thread on that week’s discussion board. Additionally, in order to receive full credit, each student will need to respond to at least two of their peer’s threads.

Specifically, students will each be required to provide a brief overview of the following items regarding the topic:

  • Name of Article and newspaper or magazine from which the article was taken along with the year, month (and date if appropriate) article was published.
  • Synopsis of the article and what they found relevant about it as it relates to the topic (s) being covered in the week the article is presented. (1-2 paragraphs)
  • What value did they get out of the topic and what would they encourage the writer/author of the topic to examine next given what was discussed in the article. (1-2 paragraphs)

Grading will be based on the quality of the student’s posted thread and completion of the required two responses.  Each week the article selection and discussion board posting will be worth 30 points for a total of 150 points for all 5 weeks.

  • Use paragraphs for easy readability.

  • Include the article’s title, publication, and date at the very top.
