Research Purpose and Methodology
1. Review the comments that were provided and revise the sections that you have already completed at this point in your study.
2. Develop the Methodology/ Research Design section of your paper. This section will consist of the following sub sections. Use sub headings to label all of the sections of your report.
1. Data – Primary and secondary data: discuss the types of data that you will be using in your study and where you will be getting it.
2. Variables – clearly label and discuss all of the variables in your study. X1, X2, X3, X4 and your Y variable. Develop an illustration to showcase all of the variables and below the illustration discuss whey the selected variables are the best fit for your current study. Use documentation to discuss them. Label and name the illustration Example: Figure 1: Variable Overview.
3. Sample – clearly state that you will be using a sample of n=50. Describe the sample that you will be using. Where will you get them, zip codes and any other psycho graphic data that might help to describe them.
4. Instrument – Describe the survey that you will be using (we will revisit this section at a later point in the class). All students will be using a Likert Type survey. At this point just state the survey that will be using to collect the primary data.
5. Fieldwork – Describe the individuals who will be assisting you in collecting the surveys in the field. Only persons over the age of 18 can be included in the study as field agents. No children can be used.

Methodology/Research Design

Data

This study will utilize both primary and secondary data sources. Primary data will be collected through surveys designed to measure perceptions of justice in the criminal system based on different variables. Secondary data will be gathered from government reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and statistical databases to provide a contextual background for the analysis.

These variables were selected based on existing literature that highlights their influence on judicial outcomes. Research has shown that disparities in socioeconomic status, gender, race, and geographic location can impact the perception and administration of justice (Smith & Johnson, 2020).

Sample

This study will use a sample size of n=50 participants. Participants will be selected from various zip codes to ensure diversity in geographic representation. The sample will include individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, and racial/ethnic groups to provide a comprehensive analysis of the factors influencing perceptions of justice. Participants will be recruited through community organizations, legal aid centers, and online survey platforms.

Instrument

A Likert-type survey will be used to collect primary data. The survey will consist of statements related to justice in the criminal system, and participants will rate their level of agreement on a scale (e.g., 1=Strongly Disagree to 5=Strongly Agree). This standardized survey format will allow for the quantitative measurement of perceptions across different demographic groups.

Fieldwork

The survey collection will be facilitated by trained field agents who are over the age of 18. Field agents will be responsible for distributing and collecting surveys in designated locations, including community centers, public events, and legal advocacy organizations. Strict ethical guidelines will be followed to ensure participant confidentiality and voluntary participation.
