The cultures I picked is North American and my own cultures is Haitian American from Haiti.
1. Conduct an interview with the person you chose from the target culture. Use the questions that you developed in previous units.
2. Then teach the Uncommon Power Bible Study to the person. It should take about 15 minutes. Be sure to follow the culturally relevant strategies you designed.
Part 2: Report
Write a 5-7 page paper about your experience. Utilize the Final Project Report Template. Include the following:
1. Introduction – (1/2 – 3/4 page)
2. Interview – (4 pages)
a. Interview Responses: Summarize the responses to the 8-10 interview questions.
b. Summary: Summarize your experience doing the interview. Was it awkward or comfortable? Did the interviewee readily give answers or was he/she sometimes hesitant? Also, discuss what you learned about the target culture. Was there any new information you didn’t know before?
3. Bible study – (approx. 1 page)
a. Summarize your experience teaching the Bible study. How well do you feel that you presented the Bible study? How was it received? Did your interviewee provide any feedback? If you give this Bible study again in the future, would you change anything about your presentation, and if so, what?
4. Reflection – reflect on your experience (1-2 pages)
a. In the interview and the Bible study, did you employ some of the cultural strategies you learned about in this course? If so, which ones? How did they affect your experience and the experience of your interviewee? Be specific.
b. What ideas do you have for reaching out to more people in the target culture? In a previous assignment, you shared 2-4 recommendations of strategies for effectively sharing the gospel with people from the target culture. Do you think those strategies are still appropriate or would you modify them based on this experience?
c. If my new friend comes to church and gets born again, what ideas do I have for helping him/her stay connected despite the cultural differences?
d. Overall, what did you learn from this experience?
