1 Introduction and Overview of Health Issue- this section introduces the current health topic that you have selected. In this section you define what your health topic of interest is and provide the reader with a justification of why this is an important and current public health topic. Your health issues is a current issue in public health but also can just be a new aspect of a chronic disease. For example, new screening guidelines for a chronic disease such as cancer. Current topics in public health can be either an infectious (COVID-19, HIV, Norovirus, RSV, influenza, etc.) or chronic disease (cancer, heart/cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.) or a behavioral risk or protective factor such as obesity, tobacco use, vaccination, family planning/STI prevention, sleep, emergency preparedness, etc. What is the impact of this health issue and why is it a public health concern? **********In this section you utilize global (worldwide), national (United States), state (California), and/or local data (for example Los Angeles City or County) to justify the extent of the health challenge (the epidemiology) and discuss any relevant and impacted communities and/or specific populations at higher/lower risk for this particular health issue. 2. Recommended Evidence-Based Interventions/Programs/Strategies. This section provides an understanding of what past and current evidence-based or evidence-informed health interventions, programs, or strategies have been implemented to address this particular health issue. Note that an evidence-based or informed program can be a “model program”. It may have been implemented in another state or county, but could still be applied and of value to your health issue. Include the following: What has been the success (or lack of success) of your identified evidence-based, evidence-informed interventions, programs, and strategies and how have they been successful? What research and data can be cited that confirms the success or lack of success of these interventions, programs, or strategies? What is your own perspective as to why these evidence-based, evidence-informed interventions, programs, or strategies may or may not be successful? Consider any cultural inclusive programming or strategies that may be important for your population. 3. Future Directions- In this section, reference Healthy People 2030Links to an external site., and consider what future goals and objectives apply to your chosen health issue and how they may support improved health and wellbeing over the next decade. Are there any Social Determinants of Health or Leading Health Indicators of Healthy People 2030 that should also be considered? 4. Conclusion- in this section identify your final thoughts related to your health topic and a concluding summary. 5.
