thorough understanding of the two visions may help you view other contemporary issues and
allow you to see how the “other side” thinks of any given issue and how resolution might be
found.
Review A Conflict of Visions. Provide a thorough summary of the basic dichotomy described in
the first section, including the differing ways the two visions view knowledge. Then examine at
least one of the applications of the visions in the second half of the book (power, equality,
justice, etc.). Use a current event that relates to the application you are focusing on to critique or
analyze how well Sowell’s idea explains the divisions we see on the issue.
