Directions
Students will create an Adobe Portfolio and upload work from previous courses.
CREATING AN ADOBE PORTFOLIO
This week you will create, and Adobe portfolio titled “Your Name” or “Company Name”
This portfolio will travel with you over the next 19 months in this degree program and will be updated in each of the next 6 Project and Portfolio classes you have during that time. This is the start of you beginning to share your work with your instructors, other students, and potential clients and employers. As such, you should put the appropriate amount of time into designing this site since it will become your online persona.
Spend some time before you do this assignment looking at examples of other portfolios and think about how you want to design and layout your own.
THIS PORTFOLIO WILL INCLUDE
1) HOME PAGE (SPLASH OR INTRO PAGE) – This is a page to entice the viewer to want to come into your portfolio. A button or two should be include that leads into one of the pages on your site.
2) ABOUT PAGE – This page should include a pic of you or something that represents you and a short Bio about who you are. This tells the viewer about you, showcases your personality, and states your goals and dreams.
3) WORK OR PROJECT PAGE – This page will include three pages for your previous courses. For each page, include the work you have done in that course.
COURSE PAGES (You must have the three pages below on your Work or Project Page)
Intro to Film and Video – The storyboard project you did should be included.
New Media Tools – The graphic design project you did should be included.
Intro to Post Production – The soundscape video you did should be included.
Please prepare to include a page for your Project and Portfolio 1 course. You will add your Instructional Video project in Week 4, once it’s completed.
4) CONTACT PAGE – Use the template in Adobe Portfolio for this page.
Deliverables
Students will submit a link to their site for review. The link must be a hyperlink. Your site should contain all the pages above for full credit.
Once you get the images and any text imported, you will need to go in and do a little design work on your new Adobe Portfolio before posting the link for submission.
Just a few notes on the design of these:
NO BLACK OR WHITE BACKGROUNDS. These should be color backgrounds or photos or videos as backgrounds. If you use a color background, make sure you put some thought into the color and try to make them complementary colors based on color wheels.
Use buttons, banners, and social media links on your pages.
Pay attention to the readability of your text. Make sure you have the right size text and have enough contrast between the text and backgrounds. Remember, this needs to be viewable across multiple platforms, computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
Include a navigation panel: Make sure it’s easy for viewers to navigate through your site. Most people put the navigation of the four pages at the top or along the right side.
Try to do some research on other film and television portfolio sites, so you can see how other industry professionals use this platform to promote their work.

FINAL THOUGHTS
My advice is to put some thought into the layout and design of your site and to not just upload your photos and videos without giving it much attention. This will become your visual resume to show people your work over the next several months, so make it worthwhile. You will find a lot of people use Adobe Portfolio as a beginning website for their upstart businesses, so spend some time looking at the designs of other Adobe Portfolio sites for inspiration.
