“LATEST HOT TOPICS / NEWS BULLETINS”
This discussion board is your opportunity for extra credit starting 2/5/24. It will remain open until 5/3/24. Check this board daily, or as frequently as possible, to see if something interesting is happening or there is something you would like to respond to available. You may want to join in the commentary. This is not intended to be in lieu of required course work, but in addition to it. This is optional, but could potentially help you boost your grade. The more you contribute, the more points you will receive at the end of the semester. You can contribute a news bulletin/commentary more than once, but the limit is 3 per person. You can discuss, debate or comment on other students bulletins/reports as much as you wish. You should write bulletins and respond to your fellow students’ bulletins. Discuss, debate, pro/con, agree/disagree and explain why…it’s open for creativity as long as we are respectful and civil with each other. The instructor will also contribute information on occasion.
Act as/identify yourself as a newsbroadcasting commentator, analyst or reporter. (Example: Hello, this is Carol Anderson your news analyst from ABC News, or CNN, NY Times, KUSI News, makeup something like you are a radio show host or a TV talk show host) Report about people, places, things and events (all social issues) that are going on/have happened in your immediate community, in the country or globally that interest, concern or surprise you. This should be very recent information. Make a video or audio recording of yourself delivering the news commentary and post. You can also post your written comments. Post pictures, documents, videos, documentaries, podcasts, lectures to support your positions or enhance your presentation, if you wish. Get creative/have fun with it. You can also collaborate with a follow student(s). Report with approximately 2-3 paragraphs…I’m flexible with this, but there should be meaningful content. Don’t forget to tie this in with something sociological…a statement, theory, sociological perspective or something about social behavior!!!
