Step One – Select a picture of an interior space. These images may be found online, in a book, or magazine.
Step Two – After reading Chapter 3 Design Theory: Aesthetics, Elements, and Principles of Design use your knowledge to analyze the image you selected.
Step Three – Look at the selected image and describe which Elements and which Principles you see being used in the design. Objectively analyze the picture.
Step Four – End with a short summary of your overall evaluation of the validity of the design. Did the design meet its intent based on the Elements and Principles that were employed.
Step Five – Please upload a PDF of your assignment.
Notes:
You may present your critique in bullet or outline format. Start with the Elements then address the Principles. It should be clear which Element or Principle you are describing.
Use all of the Principles and Elements that you recognize.
Stay objective with your critique – keep your personal opinions out of your discussion.
Remember, presentation is important! You must include your image in your assignment. The image must be of good quality, with no blurry or pixelated photos. The image should be at least 1/2 page or larger.
The assignment must be typed!
