(From Client)
Hi, You did my last assignment on this topic well here the final project. I attached my last assignment that you completed. I also redid the flyer you did for me so that why it may look different. If you have any questions let me know. Thank you.
HC: M4: Final Project Instructions
The Main Idea
For your final project, you will propose a Health Campaign that addresses the health issue you are researching for your SOSC B10 Final Project.
You will need to submit a slide deck that outlines the ideas of your Health Campaign, and then you will present your Health Campaign idea to the class via Zoom, sharing your slide deck as you discuss your thoughts in 5-7 minutes.
Instructions
You have been learning about the power of health narratives and ways to support health through education-entertainment and health campaigns. Now, you get to design one of your very own, and the sky is the limit.
If you had Jeff Bezos Links to an external site.’ money or Shonda Rhimes’ Links to an external site. connections, what would you do to help support people affected by this illness? You do not have to plan an Amazon-sized event, but you can if you want to!
In your health campaign proposal, you will want to pretend you are pitching your ideas to potential funders, and will therefore need to sell them on why they should get involved and why they should trust your idea as the best campaign to support the cause. In other words, pretend you are presenting to Jeff or Shonda, and that you need to convince them to give you money and support to pull off your idea.
What is in a health Campaign Proposal?
Include these below 10 items:
1. Briefly explain the health issue you want to address
Offer some data points that inform your audience on the basic symptoms of this illness, the most at-risk population, prevalence and mortality rates, current research or prevention, etc.
Basically, why is a health campaign needed (to raise awareness? raise money for research? build community among survivors?)
2. State your health campaign title and idea
Give your health campaign a catchy title
Come up with a one-sentence summary of your campaign idea
3. Explain what your campaign will involve
Next, elaborate on the details of the campaign
Is it a marathon or a benefit concert in Central Park? (like Race for the Cure Links to an external site. and Live8 Links to an external site.)
Perhaps you want to sell t-shirts and bracelets via TikTok (like Livestrong.org Links to an external site.)
Maybe you want to do a blood drive or host a free vaccine event at the Boardwalk (like at the local Farmers Market)
Perhaps you want to do a whole show or Netflix movie about someone dealing with the illness (like the Grey’s Anatomy episode on sexual assault Links to an external site. or the film 50/50 Links to an external site.)
You can also plan a Suberbowl commercial campaign that informs people on how to donate (like St. Jude Children’s Hospital Links to an external site.)
Maybe you want to propose a month of activities or local events as we see during times like Mental Health Awareness Month Links to an external site.
…whatever your ideas is, get specific, and note 3-5 key elements)
Most importantly, what is the call to action? There might be more than one…
Learn more?
Buy/Donate?
Support and come together?
4.Outline the critical items needed for your health campaign
Bulltet out the items and their estimated costs (just guess)
Space
Staff
Vendors
Merchandise
Marketing
Talent
…not all of these items will be needed depending on your campaign, but your campaign will cost something, map out your ideas for at least 3 budget items)
5.Explain the key stakeholders involved in your campaign.
Who will you need to pull off the campaign?
Think about staff, vendors, maybe even celebrities or politicians who can help gain support, etc.)
Who will the campaign support (who benefits from this campaign?)
6.Explain the key communication elements of your communication plan
How will you spread the word about the campaign?
Again, depending on the campaign, you will need different things; outline as many as you can think of that apply to your campaign.
7.Provide an example of a flyer you would circulate on Instagram
Social Media will no doubt be part of your communication plan, so mock up a flyer/image you could use to spread the word
You can use a tool like Canva Links to an external site. or Powerpoint/Keynote/Google Slides to create a flyer
Source Images somewhere with open copyright laws, like Creative Commons Links to an external site.
Think strategically about the way you use ethos, pathos, and logos on your flyer
Recall that most health campaigns lean heavily into one of these, but incorporate all three
The Colonoscopy/Ryan Renolds clip Links to an external site. leaned on logos, by showing us the process of getting a colonoscopy, but ethos was also involved by using a celebrity we trust, and pathos lightened the mood and made the experience less-scary, as he made jokes
The St. Jude Clip Links to an external site. relied on a lot pathos, by featuring the face of an innocent kid; but ethos was employed through heaving branding and the use of St. Jude’s logo throughout
The Grey’s Anatomy clip Links to an external site. used ethos by reframing a doctor as a victim, which made the experience of the victim more trustworthy; there was also pathos, with emotional music and dramatic filming techniques
8.How will you measure success?
Predict what the reception of your campaign will look like, and how you will know you were successful.
Is it based on attendance? Money raised? Viewership? An increase in screenings? (After Ryan Reynolds and his colonoscopy campaign Links to an external site. screenings are up 40%!)
9.Explain why you chose this health issue to tackle
What is your connection?
Articulate (through a narrative) why you want to support people with this illness
10.Your last slide should be a Reference Page
You need at least 5 sources
