For this discussion activity, each of you will offer your analysis of an assigned Sample Career Brochure.
Your task is to assess how your assigned brochure demonstrates—or falls short of—effective use of visual and document design principles, drawing insights from what you’ve learned about design in workplace writing. Through this activity, you will deepen your understanding of design concepts and enhance your critical evaluation skills.
Here are some prompts you might consider in your post:
Design Principles Evaluation: Based on the design principles discussed in the course materials (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity), describe and evaluate how well the brochure adheres to these principles. Consider the following questions:
What design principles does the brochure use?
Does the brochure effectively use contrast to highlight important information?
Is there a sense of repetition and consistency throughout the brochure?
How well is alignment maintained in terms of text, images, and other elements?
Is proximity used to group related information and create visual organization?
Content-Design Harmony Evaluation: Assess how the design elements enhance or hinder the brochure’s ability to communicate its content clearly. Does the design support the overall message, or does it create confusion?
