Compare the company’s financial performance with competitors in their industry.
Given the financial statement information is somewhat dated in the book, you will be required to retrieve the most current annual reports to analyze your financial ratios. You are required to calculate ratios for 4 consecutive years starting with the most current; therefore, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 or 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019. You are NOT allowed to use Yahoo Finance. You must locate the 10k or annual reports for the company you are analyzing.
Ratio formulas can be found on pages 89-91.
Below are the ratios you should be computing for your respective cases:
Profitability Ratios
-Gross profit margin
-Operating profit margin
-Net profit margin
-Total Return on total Assets
-Return on stockholder’s equity
Liquidity Ratios
-Current ratio
-Working capital
Leverage Ratios
-Debt to assets
-Long-term debt to capital
Activity Ratios
Inventory turnover
Average collection period
An appendix must be completed to show the ratio calculations. After the appendix is completed, a discussion about the ratios and corresponding graphs must be included in the case analysis report. Therefore two items should be submitted in week #5: appendix with ratio calculations (show work) and financial analysis in the case report with graphs to track trends.
Note: Depending on the type of company you are analyzing, you may not be able to compute some ratios. Select other ratios if necessary, but make sure that you discuss the major financial indicators: profitability, liquidity, leverage, and activity.
