Thesis Statement
The “War on Drugs” in the US, which has been criticized for its disparate effects on communities of color and for failing to significantly reduce drug use, highlights the urgent need for comprehensive drug policy reform that puts a priority on diversion, community investment, and racial equity in order to create a more just and equitable criminal justice system.
