Option 2: Using 1-3 articles assigned in the first half of the course, discuss the concept of media reception and how audiences interpret and analyze messages in mass media. What role does technology play in the reception of mass media messages? Discuss different schools of thought (ex Frankfrut Skool) , if relevant.
Guidelines: Scholars Recommended Roland Barthes, Walter Benjamin, Marshall McLuhan (How media messages were transmitted), Stuart Hall (Encoding Decoding Media)
Please make sure that each body paragraph mainly focus on one Scholar/Article in which they talks about Mass Media and the development of media studies. For example, first paragraph could be about Roland Barthes and second could be about Marshall Mcluhan (in how media was transmitted) etc,
Also please make sure to avoid using “overly polished” English to match my skillset as a foreign student and English being my second language.
Avoid using any outside sources, I have added the sources/articles to the files list. I have also made lecture notes for a better understanding of this topic. FYI, only refer to chapter 1 in the Mcluhan article other chapters do not need to be used.
