Openness:curious, original, intellectual, creativeYou scored high on openness (40 out of 50).You probably love to learn, are highly curious about things, and constantly ask questions. You like to shake things up and you prefer variety over routine. You’re open to change. Generally optimistic about new things, you may be the first one in your social circle to try a new food or clothing trend. However, your enthusiasm may be short-lived, which can be a challenge when setting long-term goals. Rather than constantly setting and discarding goals for your future, try to break down your goals into small steps so you stay focused.
Conscientiousness:organized, achievement-oriented, dependableYou scored moderately high on conscientiousness (31 out of 50).You are likely described as responsible and reliable. You value routines and structure because you recognize that they help keep things on track. However, you’re also willing to cut others some slack; although you have high standards, you don’t expect absolute perfection at all times. As you work on setting and achieving your goals, you likely give yourself time to relax and have fun—occasionally.
Extroversion:outgoing, talkative, sociableYou scored moderately high on extroversion (31 out of 50).You’re probably often described as outgoing and social, but you also find yourself occasionally needing time alone. You maintain a healthy balance between the two extremes of this personality trait. You likely feel energized in groups or when giving presentations, but you may not feel the need to be the center of attention at all times. You can be assertive when you need to, but you’re also quite capable of listening or holding back when appropriate. Both of these strengths can help you achieve your goals.
Agreeableness:affable, tolerant, sensitive, trusting, kindYou scored moderately high on agreeableness (34 out of 50).You’re probably described as kind and helpful. You prefer to avoid conflict and will often dodge situations or conversations that may upset other people. However, if confronted directly, you can speak up or stand your ground, though you may try to smooth things over afterward. In order to achieve your goals, you will sometimes need to step out of your comfort zone and further develop your emotional intelligence skills of social awareness and conflict resolution to ensure that you are asserting your needs.
Neuroticism:anxious, moody, insecureYou scored moderately high on neuroticism (37 out of 50).You’re likely to have a tendency to focus on the negative side of things, although you’d probably describe yourself as a realist. While you may have strong initial reactions, you can probably remain calm in most situations unless you feel very passionate about the issue at hand or are under a lot of stress. To achieve your goals, you’ll want to keep your physiological reactions in check (which you can do through mindfulness or meditation), and also examine whether your initial criticisms and reactions are rational and adaptive.
My highest score was in openness. I am not surprised by the results. I am always wanting to learn more and grow personally and mentally. My Grit is my children. I truly need to succeed so that they know it is possible. They teach me everyday that I am enough. I do my best for them to be able to be the 1st in my family to break the cycle. No more teen pregnancy, abusive relationships, dropping out of school, and running from what scares us. I am growing everyday so they have a path that shows them it is always possible. Grit touches on all of the course themes. Without Gritt none of the above would be possible.
