For this writing assignment, you will compare and contrast two works of art: one from Module 7 and another from the last 30 years.
Choose one artwork from Module 7 and compare it to a contemporary (meaning from the last 30 years) artwork of your choice. It will strengthen your analysis if the two works have a connection of some sort. This may be similarities in style, in theme, in subject matter, or in content. As you describe, analyze, compare, and contrast the pair, address each the following:
Stylistic characteristics (i.e., visual elements and/or design principles indicative of period style)
Subject matter and/or theme
Historical context
Do not simply make a list of the aforementioned aspects. Instead, construct a clear and coherent comparison by analyzing similarities and differences between the two works. You want to consider the ways in which the two artworks are related and distinct in terms of specific characteristics, general themes or purposes of art, and art historical significance.
