Interview Activity
You are to interview two (2) people of a different ethnic and/or racial background than yourself. You are to ask them about their experiences living in Canada in reference to race/ethnicity. Do not ask leading questions, for example do not ask “how many times have you been discriminated against?” You do not want to assume they have, so instead you should ask “have you had any experiences of discrimination or racism?” Allow them to speak in their own words. Your role in to listen. You should take notes during the interviews or record them, please ask your participants if that is acceptable to them before doing so.
The interviews are your raw data. You are then to analyze that information, using the theories/concepts from our course. [What did you learn from your interviews? Did you hear things that surprised you? Why/why not?] Do not use your participants’ names in your paper. You are being graded not just completing the interviews, but also how well you were able to connect that information to the concepts we have learned. You do not have to include everything you learned in your interviews into your final paper.
Your paper should be approximately 4-5 pages in length, double-spaced, with 12-point font. You should have a minimum of 4 academic peer-reviewed sources. Do not use Wikipedia or unverified online sites.
