International Law/Organization Profile
For this assignment, you will select 1 piece of international law, 1 international organization, or 1 non-governmental organization to learn more about and engage with critically. This assignment is 15 points and is due by the close of the session.
The goals of this assignment are twofold 1) to apply concepts and critiques we’ve learned throughout the modules to an additional organization or law and 2)think about how international law/organization engagement may fit into your research and portfolio interests.
Choose an IO/IL you will focus on. I chose UN Women for my focus
It cannot be a specific one that we already covered in this class. However, many large IOs have smaller components you could choose. For example, we covered the UN, but not UN Women or UN High Commissioner for Refugees, so could look more specifically into those components.
In this assignment, you will:
Research the IO/IL’s background and creation
Engage at least 2 concepts from class
Critically think about strengths/ weaknesses of the IO/IL design
Assess compliance outcomes
Generate a potential research question with hypothesis about the IO/IL
