CURRENT EVENT ANALYSIS GUIDELINES
Once during the semester, you will present to the class a news article that relates to
psychology and the law. You should describe the nature of the article and most
importantly discuss relevant Psycholegal issues raised by the article. Omaha World
Herald, CNN.com, Time, and Newsweek (among others but not the Onion) are excellent
sources for appropriate news articles, as is the Internet.
A copy of the article (appropriately dated and referenced) and a minimum of a 2-page
A written summary of your analysis must be submitted at the time of your
presentation. Your analysis will include a summary of the written article and the
psycholegal issues that are relevant. Failure to turn in a copy of the article will result in
the loss of a letter grade off the assignment.
Your grade will be based on the following criteria (20 points total):
Clear Identification of Case Facts (4)
Clear Identification and Discussion of Relevant Psycholegal Issues (8)
Ability to Answer Questions (2)
Relevance and Interest to Class (2)
Quality of Summary (4)
