Choose one of eight prompts below to write paper over. Cite sources and provide work cited page. I have also attached my notes/reading from class over the subject.
1. Addams and Du Bois: Compare and contrast Jane Addams’ view of the role of trade unions with that of W.E.B. DuBois on the role of sociology in studying social problems. How does each view the relationship between social scientific research and social reform?
2. Cooley and Giddings: Compare and contrast the views of Cooley and Giddings on the role of social consciousness and social will in addressing social problems. What role do they see for sociology and social scientific knowledge in shaping public policy?
3. Du Bois and Giddings: Both DuBois and Giddings tackle issues of racism and conflict in early 20th century America. Compare and contrast their analyses of the roots of these problems and their proposals for solutions.

For this option, you can choose a different theorist and create your own lecture — for only me to see. No writing required, although I would prefer you create a PowerPoint. Consider this like an in-class presentation that only is submitted to me. I just want you to choose a theorist that I didn’t summarize.
