Reflection journal entries for lessons 1 through 5 will include insights gained from Black Hearts: One Platoons Descent Into Madness In Iraq’s Triangle of Death, in addition to the weekly lesson. AC7910REQA and AC7500RJ are provided for your review.
Instructions – Reflection Journal Entries:
1. Read AC7910REQA. The section titled, “What to Write in a Journal Entry” on page 3 describes the three areas below to think about when writing an entry, and it provides brainstorming questions and an example.
How the lesson material impacted you,
Why you found the lesson material to be important, and
How you might engage with the lesson material in the future.
2. Prepare to write a reflection journal entry for each lesson by considering the seminar session,
the lesson readings, interactive multimedia instructions (IMIs), and homework assignments,
interactions with peers or the instructor, or any other related experience to date. The reflection
journal entry must describe how the lesson’s material impacted you, why you found the lesson
material engaging, and how you might engage with it in the future. The insights written about for
a particular lesson should be from the current lesson but may also refer to an earlier lesson.
3. Within 24 hours after the lesson seminar session, students should record their journal entry in
the respective journal: I will attend week two late tomorrow evening and I will be able to provide some insight from the seminar.
