The goal of the discussion board is to help students research long-term care / aging services workforce need in a geographic specified area. INSTRUCTIONS: (Please read to the bottom of this page.) STEP #1: Utilize Indeed.com Links to an external site. to research job openings in a specified area familiar to you or one you find interesting. Indeed.com let’s you browse by city, state, zip code or “remote”. You might need to insert a few different job titles/areas such as: long term care, aging services, skilled nursing facility, memory care, etc. STEP #2: Setup a Google account if you do not have one: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/27441?hl=en Links to an external site. Go to Google.com and click on the 9 dots in the upper right corner. Pick Maps Create a new map https://www.howtogeek.com/664890/how-to-create-a-custom-map-in-google-maps/ Links to an external site. Make a map that has a minimum of four mapping points that shows job openings in a certain city, county, zip code or remote. The map points could be life plan / continuing care retirement communities, memory care, skilled nursing facilities, or hospice providers – any job working within LTC. Label each mapping point with the name of the facility/community/organization. Add a map title and description that tells us what you are showing with your mappings. Descriptions should include the type of job opening. Provide access and share the map with everyone so that the class has access. This means you will need to make your map public. STEP #3: Copy and paste the URL to the discussion board. STEP #4: In the discussion board text box, include the map URL, write 1-2 paragraphs as to how the job openings you chose relates to long term care and the course content. This will be done within the discussion board – not the map. STEP#5: Add your reference listing to the bottom of the discussion posting.. STEP #6: Don’t think to hard about this assignment. Be creative! Have fun! EXAMPLES: Note! The first is a general example. The second is an example utilized from a different course. Both are great visuals to help you create your map.
