This assignment is mandatory in this course and is designed to serve as an active learning approach in which students are asked to engage with course materials and practice learning activities, e.g. writing, talking, problem solving, thinking or presenting that material.
In this assignment, students are expected to demonstrate understanding and appreciation of principles and practices associated with the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in different business settings. In this vein, students are encouraged to move beyond the material presented in the class towards unveiling the extent to which AI is likely to increase business value. Assignment as such would serve to have students think about the material presented in the course “extant IS applications” along with their shortfalls; and potentially relate them to AI’s abilities to deliver business value.

Question:
The discipline of Artificial Intelligence (AI) takes root in its origins as an approach emerged from research on systematic method for problem solving (Horvitz et al, 1988). Today, advanced computer technologies have unleashed AI to deliver interactive access to data, enable manipulation of data, and give users the ability to conduct appropriate analyses. By analysing historical and current data (symbolic and numerical), situations, and performances; users get valuable insights that enable them to make more informed decisions “or better actions” (Sharda et al, 2015).

Indeed, the application of AI technology into the business has been related to the development of AI programs in order to support business practitioners in their day-to-day duties that involves boosting revenue, improving customer experience, increasing productivity and efficiency, and driving business growth and transformation. Those traits make AI highly valuable throughout many industries, e.g. financial, retailers, manufacturing, services and healthcare to improve their strategic and operations practices through automating business processes, gaining insight from data analysis, and engaging with customers and employees.
Structure:
1. Title of the Topic: Artificial Intelligence in (your topic choice)
2. Description (150-200 words): provide a short critical reflection on how AI can revolutionize a
wide range of areas within your own work sector, the extent to which AI can be of value in everyday practices, e.g., making sense of large amounts of data, identifying patterns, automating certain processes, etc., and what are the set of challenges to adopt AI in work setting.
3. Developing a mind-Map (a page max):
Mind-map is a very useful tool. It can be used in many situations, e.g. communicate the topic, present it in a big picture, brainstorming, taking useful notes and analyzing a topic for many purposes. The following guidelines should take into consideration when you create a mind map:
§ Start from the center of the mind map a simple box along with the title.
§ add main feature to the mind map, use various images and icons, to distinguish
these branches, you can use different colors for each branch.
§ Each key word must be unique and belong uniquely to each branch.
§ Start connecting lines from the central image to the branches. These lines usually
get thinner and thinner as you radiate out from the center.
§ Create the length of the lines that matches the words or images they support.
§ Use multiple colors to distinguish branches from each other. You can also use
these colors to encode as well as group the requirements.
§ There is no fix style of creating a mind map. You can create your own style for the
same.
§ Use emphasis and indicate associations in the mind map to enhance the
understanding of the related requirements.
§ Avoid any cluttering in the mind map and keep it clean to make sure that there is
no ambiguity or miscommunication.
4. Reflective learning (200-400 words): provide a summery on what you have found particularly
thought-provoking in the topic of AI, demonstrate how your thinking grows and develops following the engagement on a topic of this nature, and what is your plan to continuously develop your self-awareness in this area

Penalties
● Only submission of an online copy through the BB will be accepted, emailing the assignment
