ARTICLE REVIEW ASSIGNMENTS INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
As this course makes clear, business law is a wide ranging and pervasive body of law that impacts many facets of business and life. Furthermore, it is critical that people seeking graduate-level degrees be familiar with and able to interact with scholarly literature and thought.
These Article Review Assignments, therefore, give you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to analyze issues of business law as described above and interact with scholarly literature in the area.
INSTRUCTIONS
For each Article Review Assignment, you will:
(1) choose an excellent scholarly article published in the last calendar year addressing a topic related to business law covered in the course;
(2) carefully read and review the article chosen;
(3) write a 1,500-2,000 word review of the article in good Bluebook format:
(I) describing the article including:
(a) the topic or issue the article is addressing;
(b) the problem or research question identified by the author(s);
(c) a brief summary of the background law, literature review, or other information needed for contextual understanding;
(d) the proposal, conclusions, solution, or results from the article; and
(e) any other information you deem important to understanding the article
(II) critiquing and assessing the article’s analysis, conclusions, and/or recommendations (at least two clearly identified critiques must be included).
Each Article Review Assignment should be between 1,500–2,000 words, excluding the cover page and the reference list. In other words, the body itself of your Article Review should be between 1,500 and 2,000 words. You must stay within the required word range (no exceptions; indeed, a critical part of scholarly writing is synthesizing and summarizing important information (and omitting information that is not material)).
Each Article Review should be in good Bluebook format, contain 1-inch margins, use 12-point Ariel or New Times Roman font, and be double-spaced.
You do not need to include an abstract, but you do need to include a cover page and a reference list.
Each Article Review Assignment must cite as well as utilize at least 3 different scholarly, academic or legal sources (one of which must be the article chosen for review). Scholarly, academic or legal sources provided in the course materials or cited in the course materials should be preferred to the extent that they are relevant to the assignment. Please note, this is not requiring a minimum of 3 citations but rather 3 sources. You should have numerous citations throughout each Article Review as every major assertion should be supported by a citation to relevant authority.
