1. For your writing sample this week, you will write a news article that would be posted on the Internet.
Re-purpose your beat paper.
Since this is an online article you want to think through how to use that to your advantage. Are there images you or graphics you could use to enhance your article?
You also want to use links in your article. One great way to use a link would be to provide a direct link to the source of your information. That enhances credibility and communicates you’re being transparent.
Make sure your length is appropriate for the web, so you would like it to be about 600 words
Make sure your headline reflects the discussion on pp. 193-194 in Papper.
In the submission box, share what kind of website your article would be posted on, such as a television station website, a newspaper website, NPR, etc.
You need to also submit the News Media Writing Strategy sheet as well as provide links to the sources you used (when you use them) and a works cited page.How do you think the news world is utilizing new media? What about phone applications, or “apps?” What is your favorite source for online news? How do you see media outlets trying to pull in “viewers” through the new media?
