This week you looked at Marxist theory, critical theory, multiculturalism, critical race theory, postmodernism, and feminist theory. Three main themes characterize this perspective. The first theme – race, class, and gender – leads to the second theme of how the intersections of race, class, and gender affect the distribution of resources and power so that some groups in our society are privileged and some are oppressed. The third theme – knowledge and truth – explores the nature and construction of knowledge as it relates to learning.
Think about one of the theories that you’ve encountered this week. How do you think it will impact how you approach instruction?
