Here’s your chance to write a hard news story. You are going to pick the story based on a community event of your choice. It can be a meeting, event which is happening soon, or some other story of interest.
Start by determining your story situation and audience
Attend the event and cover the story. (yep-zoom meetings are going to count for this one. We’re going to have to be creative on how we “attend” an event!)
Conduct short interviews with at least two sources and take careful notes
Write your story using inverted pyramid style
Quote sources where applicable.
Proofread and edit your article carefully.
Revise as necessary.
Your story should be between 350-500 words, depending on the event or topic. This is your chance to pick something on campus or in your community that interests you.
