Use Google Scholar to find 3 additional recent (since 2017) articles on ONE of the following topics for this population: fat intake, lactose intolerance, low intake of fresh produce, vitamin or mineral deficiencies, infant feeding, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, or iron-deficiency anemia. Clearly define the problem. For example, African Americans are twice as likely to develop diabetes (p 227). Is this true according to the articles you found? If so, why? What are some unique cultural tendencies that might contribute to this issue? Include your sources.
Once you have clearly defined the problem and why it might exist more so in this population, provide your most creative ideas as well as those from online sources to propose one solution (or more!) to this problem. Consider cultural tendencies. For example, if a family increases their income, it does not necessarily mean they make healthier choices: “…fresh produce is sometimes ignored in favor of increased expenditure on meat…” (page 226). How would you encourage this family to increase their vegetable intake? Or, if a certain population lives in a food desert, how would you increase access to healthy foods?
