1) Poems such as “Digging” and some of our videos on the agrarian and craft life show that work can be more than a job; it can be connected to family and community. Choose two of our readings or videos and comment on the ways in which work or the work ethic can unite more than one generation of a family. Tips for a successful midterm:
Structure your answer around a thesis–your position, your big idea that you want to explain to your reader.
Use specific evidence from the course materials and explain why you are using it–how it is related to your thesis.
Several prompts ask you to compare and contrast. To do this successfully you have to make connections between the readings or videos. If you just describe how each one is related to the topic of the prompt in isolation and don’t actually make connections between them, it will impact your grade.
