Ø A bit about your history of work experience as a RN.
Ø Your future goals as FNP. (Explain your understanding of the role of an FNP in primary care, outpatient settings, treating patients across the life span, diagnosing, teaching prevention, holistic medicine…)
“Understanding this program has a focus of primary care, how would you describe the differences in practice philosophies between MD, PAs, and NPs? How have those differences informed your decision to become an NP? “

Ø Why you believe Samuel Merritt’s Online program will be a good fit to get you where you want to be.(Mention how your goals align with SMU’s Mission). (Make sure you mention the adjustments and sacrifices you are prepared to make to be successful in the program including reducing work hours if needed)

Here is a guideline for the goal statement:

v Introduction: include the 3 things you will speak to in a topical paragraph.
v 3 Paragraphs speaking to the 3 areas (listed above)
v Conclusion summarizing what you have said

1-2 pages, at least 700 words but no more than 850.
