Candidates will use, manage, analyze, and present data from school-based information systems (e.g., standardized testing, grades, enrollment, attendance, retention, placement, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and needs assessment) in order to develop a plan based on the ASCA National Standards for School Counseling Programs to improve student outcomes for children in elementary schools. They will prepare a school counseling calendar that reflects appropriate time commitments and priorities based on assisting students in achieving academic, career, and personal/social competencies identified by the overall developmental guidance program. In addition, they will investigate MUNIS on the Kentucky Department of Education website in order to determine factors affecting funding for personnel and programs.
