In particular, for this assignment you are expected to:
Search online and find recent major data breaches in the news.
Pick the major breach that you think had the biggest impact on the target company.
Make sure there is enough technical information about the root cause of the breach that can be used in your case study.
Write up a case study around the data breach covering:
The background and nature of the attack
The impact of the data breach on the victim company (financial, reputation, etc.)
Technical information on how the attack took place and why it was successful
The role of insecure software design in this data breach
How security by design principles could have helped to protect against the attack.
