2. Exercise: “What to do about Julia”
The scenario: Linda, a microbiology supervisor, was dimly aware of a romance between Julia, one of her technologists who was recently divorced, and Martin, an assistant supervisor in the blood bank who is single. Linda became acutely are of the problem developing when she heard angry voices coming from Julia’s workstation and was almost run over by Julia’s ex-husband, Nick, as he barged past her.
Julia would not talk about the matter, but several of her coworker’s reported Julia was being stalked by her former husband, who had been physically abusive to Julia on several occasions, and Julia was ‘scared to death’. One observer reported hearing Nick say they might be looking for two new laboratory people soon. Another employee commented Nick had guns all around his apartment. *Please note, Nick is not employed by the medical center/blood bank.
The challenge: Discuss a plan of action Linda should take in this scenario.
