Thread 1: Skin Lesions
Three members of a high school boys basketball team come in to see the AT because they each have round, slightly raised lesions on different parts of their bodies (neck, face, chest, back). The AT recognizes they all have ringworm. What is ringworm? How is it acquired; how is it spread; how is it treated? What advice should the AT give the boys on managing the problem? Should they be allowed to continue playing basketball right now? Why do three players on the same team have the same skin condition? Should the AT be concerned about other players? Can this issue be prevented?

Thread 2: Head Injury
For this week’s discussion you must first watch the video (41:45):
Big Hits Broken Dreams

Next, write a reflective response that includes a minimum of 3 key take-away points. You must use an outside resource to support (or refute) information found in the video; this should be a scholarly resource (e.g., peer-reviewed journal article). Make sure that you choose a resource with the most current information on the topic you are discussing.
How do you feel about the video?
Should there be stiffer penalties for those who spear, use faulty equipment, or encourage injury to others?
Should there be tighter parameters on age of when collision sports are played?
Should there be more regulation of coaches and if so, what would that look like? If no, indicate why.
Should a qualified medical provider like an AT be required to be present for collision and contact sports?
You MUST support your statements, including your opinion, with evidence!
