This homework is intended to help you get started on your memoir. Getting it done early, reading other students’ posts, as well as their replies to your post, will help you to generate and then decide on a topic.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Come up with a topic. You can always change it later. Remember, it must be something that took place after you turned 18. It also must be something you are comfortable sharing with the class. For example blacking out on your 21st birthday, being chased by the cops in your stilettos, or getting caught cheating in chem lab are not the best choice for a memoir unless it was a huge turning point in who you are today.
2. Write three paragraphs on your topic. Make sure to include the important details such as who, what, when, where, and why.
3. Read and thoughtfully respond to 4 student postings. What do you like about their topic? What do you want to know more about?
4. I suggest you read what others have written in response to you. You might get some inspiration!
