The U.S. responded to internal and external threats since its inception. The modern concept of homeland security did not exist at that time. Following 9/11, we have witnessed the modern era of homeland security. However, the definition has changed or has been perceived differently based on changing threats and critical events.
For this assignment, you are tasked with creating an infographic where you display key changes in the concept of homeland security. In order to do this, begin by reading the (links provided below) related to the evolution of homeland security.
Now, begin to collect data from the main sources chronologically. Then, seek out the differences of the concept, critical events, key policies, and meaning/definition on these dates (from 9/11/2001 to today). Compile the data you have read in assigned sources, and create an infographic that explains the information you gathered. Ensure your infographic displays at least ten (10) key events/trends that caused a definition/mission change (including 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and more recent threats).
The goal of the assignment is to examine how key events affected the definition/concept/perception change of homeland security chronologically. This infographic will provide you with a bird’s-eye view of concept changes of homeland security, so you can evaluate the context and reasons that shape the conditions for these changes.
You may use any software to create your infographic as long as you save it as a common file type that your instructor is able to open.
