#3,-Suppose you were contemplating putting up a baseball field in your backyard. It’s a lot of work and you’re considering going fishing instead. You suddenly remember a street in your town where a lot of day laborers hang out. The next morning you head out to hire one to help you build your “Field of Dreams.” You get there a little late (8:30) but there are still 5 people “hanging out.” The first one you approach turns you down cold. The second one says something about “catching a bus soon.” The third one doesn’t seem to be from the same planet and does not respond to your offer at all. The fourth and fifth laborers seem to be in a heated argument, and you don’t approach them at all. Your efforts have ended in vain. As you drive home you begin to form an opinion about “those people” who have refused to help you in your worthy endeavor. Since they were all from the same ethnic group you suspect that those people don’t like to work hard. Based on the non-response of the third person you form the option that those folks are “rude.” Your mind turns to analyze the fourth and fifth laborer and you conclude that all “green people” seem to have a “hot temper.” You make up your mind not to trust green people again because of your experience this morning.
