In research writing, most body paragraphs use quotations, paraphrases, or summaries as evidence, the “E” in MEAL plan. These paragraphs consist of the main idea or topic sentence, evidence or supporting detail, analysis or interpretation of evidence, and links if more paragraphs follow.
Your task. Use this link to find a short article to write a MEAL Plan summary paragraph OR use one of the sources considered for the annotations in your team plan, 4-a. (A link sentence at the end is not needed.) https://www.dogonews.com/ You may also google a short news or other story. Try to use simple APA in-text citations for the source (“The author says…”) and integrate a short quote or paraphrase or two. Try to avoid duplication of responses. Finally, cite the reference below your paragraph in reasonably correct APA style.
Example. An article in USA Today by Gerald Imray (2023) discusses the emergency landing of a South African plane after the pilot discovered a snake in the cockpit. Pilot Rudolf Erasmus said he “felt something cold slide across his lower back.” This turned out to be a highly venomous cobra. Erasmus commented, “It was as if my brain didn’t know what was going on.” This shows the shock Erasmus felt. Still, he continued the flight announcing the snake to the four passengers on the small plane. The pilot noted the passengers were “shocked into silence.” Air traffic controllers helped the plane land safely in central South Africa.
