This writing assignment addresses two of your scholarly products.
Conceptual Paper: In two to three pages provide a descriiption of the conceptual paper. Articulate your central problem/issue and your proposed new or different way of thinking about this phenomenon (i.e., new theoretical perspective, integration of existing theoretical views, new innovative procedure or intervention, etc.). Include applicable theories within this writing.
Practice Application Paper: In two to three pages provide a descriiption of your projected practice application paper. Articulate how you will apply and synthesize knowledge and theory to a clinical case, macro case, agency-based issue, etc.
Please refer to the Capstone Cohort Canvas Module for in-depth explanations and examples of these manuscriipts.
Consider the following questions:
So what? Why should your audience care about the topic?
Is your purpose statement clear and concise?
What are key terms/background one needs to know to understand your topic and purpose?

Tips:
Your practice application paper (PAP) can build directly on your conceptual paper, it does not have to.
If there is an actionable component to your conceptual paper that you did not explore in the conceptual paper, consider doing this in your PAP.
Two to three pages is not long which makes it imperative that you are clear, critical, and concise in your writing. Although this is not a “long” written assignment, give yourself time to edit and revise for the 3 C’s (clear, critical, and concise).
If you are having trouble finding related literature to your topic, schedule a consult with the Social Work Librarian. The librarian is a great resource available to all students.
Use APA formatting throughout. References are not included in the page count.

You will see in the instructions one is Conceptual paper and one is Practice Application Paper both are 2 to 3 pages max! Please do not go past. In the conceptual paper, students will identify, explore, and analyze theory(ies) to address their identified social problem/social issue. Conceptual papers aim to synthesize knowledge from previous work on a particular topic and present it in a new context to provide a springboard for new research that will fill knowledge gaps. The concentration course instructor will sign off on this product at the completion of the course and assign a grade according to a grading rubric. Students are encouraged to submit the final article to a scholarly journal that publishes conceptual papers.
Here is the Practice Application Paper:
This paper builds upon the conceptual paper and allows students to future apply and synthesize knowledge and theory to a clinical case, macro case, or agency-based issue. Students may utilize data from their own social service agency/ organization in the practice application paper. Data might be used to situate the broader practice issue in a more localized way (i.e., client-level, agency-level), to evaluate previous attempts to resolve the issue, etc. The concentration course instructor will sign off on this product at the completion of the course and assign a grade according to a grading rubric. Students are encouraged to submit the final article to a scholarly journal.
