The purpose of this correspondence is to request approval for eight Patrol Region 10 Command, Leander police department, Crime Suppression Team employees (listed on the continuation page) to be carried on city business for five days to attend the 2023 National Law Enforcement Corporate Crimes Convention hosted by the Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT) in Fort Worth, TX.
On August 22-25, 2023, The National Law Enforcement Corporate Crimes Convention will be held at the Omni Hotel located at 1300 Houston St., Fort Worth, TX, 76102, with check-in and registration occurring on August 21, 2023.
The R. Martians Management District has graciously volunteered to pay the registration and hotel expenses for the attending officers. Expenses included four hotel rooms at the cost of $168.00 (per room/per night) for four nights and registration fees at the cost of $450.00 (per attending officer).
Among these includes Task Force Officers for the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Leander police department Crime Suppression Team Officers actively assist outside divisions and agencies with complex investigations. From February 2023 to July 2023, Leander police department Crime Suppression Team Officers have assisted in 55 robbery investigations resulting in 46 charges along with 46 murder investigations resulting in 13 charges.
This conference will provide outstanding training specifically intended for robbery investigations along with other criminal investigations. This conference will enhance officers’ skills and allow officers to network with investigators throughout the country on a Federal, State, and Local level. Upon our return, we will share information gained while at the conference to further the skills of fellow Crime Suppression Team Officers and first responding patrol officers.
